5 Tips to Take Care of Sensitive Skin
The word “sensitive” is used to describe skin because it is more vulnerable than normal skin and requires special care. Not quite sure how to care for sensitive skin? We’re here to help!
1) Read the Label
Sensitive skin is more vulnerable to ingredients so pick skincare that is gentle and does not irritate your skin. Be cautious about products that contain high concentrations of ingredients like niacinamide, retinol, vitamin C, BHA (salicylic acid), or AHA (glycolic or lactic acid). If you have sensitive skin, always read the label.
2) Moisturising is a Must
Moisturising is an important element of any skincare routine, but it is even more important for those with sensitive skin. Opt for a long-lasting moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day. As with your cleanser, ensure that your moisturiser is gentle and does not contain irritating ingredients.
3) Stick to Simplicity
Most dermatologists recommend a simple 3-step regimen: Cleanse, Moisturise, Protect for healthy skin. It’s easy to get caught up in a world of 10-step regimens and multi-benefit products, but sensitive skin doesn’t need much. Your skin requires a routine that you can maintain in the long run, so keep a routine that you can easily stick to even when you’re busy or on the go.
4) Love Your Skin
Protect your skin as much as you can. This includes giving your skin the protection it needs when you’re doing household chores. Wear gloves so that your hands do not dry out.
5) Avoid Products with Fragrance
Who doesn’t love it when their skincare smells nice? However, research has shown that fragrances in skincare products are among the most common cause of negative skin reactions. So think twice before picking up that sweet-smelling product.
Sensitive skin does not have to be a pain if managed or cared for properly. As long as you maintain an effective skincare routine and take the right protective measures, your skin can still be healthy!
